An important meeting

A big thank you to the 80+ people who attended the public meeting at Long Flat Hall on Friday evening, 6 February.

Two councillors, Cr Gordon Maudsley, who is the Divisional Representative, and Cr Warren McEwan, both spoke positively about the future of the historical Hall.

It was reassuring for the attendees – the many local residents who value the hall as a community asset and district icon, and the large representation of dancers who enjoy the social interaction and communal exercise on Thursday and Saturday nights.

A special public thanks to those who provided a delicious supper.

It reminded me of the ‘good old days’ when the best of home cooking was on display in dance hall supper-rooms.

The AGM, at which a new Hall Committee will be elected, is to be held at the Long Flat Hall this coming Friday, 20 February, at 7pm.

Nomination forms will be available at the Meeting.

Please make sure you attend to show your support and consider taking a position on the committee, which will be absolutely essential to maintaining the usefulness, and indeed the life, of this historic hall.

– Merv Welch,

The Palms.
