Bus boost bonanza

Well, well, well!

You could have hit me with a bus when I read a State Government media release on Tuesday.

They were crowing about the permanency of the 50c fares and booming public transport numbers across Queensland.

But what really stopped me was Gympie.

Our LGA’s growth figures were more than twice those of the nearest other region.

I don’t think that’s just a blip.

It’s a statement!

So, forgive the pun, what’s driving it?

The 50c fares, sure.

But let’s not ignore the elephant on the bus.

Gympie finally got a major network overhaul last November.

After five years of agitating for better services, and discovering the last upgrade was back in 1987, I’m thrilled.

Gympie didn’t just get the buses.

We got on them… in droves!
