Art opportunities on the horizon

Art Post held an info night for local artists to come and explore their space, find out what they are capable of and what the future may look like for local artists who want to get involved.

The night was held on Thursday, 1 February, where artists and art enthusiasts from around Gympie joined in to find out what Art Post has in store while an exhibition featuring many local artists by Charmaine Lyons was on display.

Sandra Ross from Art Post described Art Post an a space for artists to experiment and exhibit their art.

“There are so many people in Gympie craving creativity.“ she said

“We are encouraging young people to think ’we do not need to go to a bigger gallery’, we can come here.

“And they can test out what they have been thinking.“

She also encouraged guests who may not be traditional artists to exhibit in a gallery such as photographers, painters and graphic artists, but invites any art form to come and make use of the space.

“Think big, get excited.“ Sandra Ross said.

Art Post are currently looking to get regional arts funding through the Flying Arts Alliance Inc who offer a program to support artists and communities in regional and remote areas.

The goal of the space is to help have a space to exhibit and showcase the efforts and talent of the many great artists within the Gympie region.

This may include programming workshops, artist fees and more.
